St John’s Church of England Primary School

St John’s is a Primary School near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. As part of a large overall construction project involving the installation of a new sewer system, our team at Norwich were approached to supply a groundworks hire package.

Project Location

Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

The Challenge

Working alongside the main contractor, we were tasked with designing a system that was cost-effective, quick to assemble and able to meet all the Health and Safety requirements on-site. An added complication was not only that the site was a school, but that the groundworks system had to be constructed during term time to a tight deadline. It was crucial that we were able to respond quickly.

The Solution

To complete the task, we devised a temporary works design which allowed quick, efficient and cost-effective installation of pipework and manholes. We supplied manhole boxes, manhole top plates, 5m drag boxes, 3m trench sheets and fitted edge protection.

Our Edge Protection System was crucial in ensuring the safety of all involved, especially during term time. Its unique design features allow it to be used for a variety of applications, including live edge protection, slab edge protection, debris guard barriers, structural steelwork protection and as a safe site walkway. Crucially at the school, the locking provision meant the protection system could not be removed without authority.

The Results

The Leada Acrow manhole box and drag box systems were easily assembled and dissembled on-site, allowing for the very heavy groundworks activity to be completed ahead of schedule.
