Working for Leada Acrow as a Design Office Manager

Posted on

Name:  Lisa Lowe

Job Title: Design Office Manager

How long have you worked in the industry?
This is my 27th year working in the industry

What does your typical day entail?
Establishing what designs are required, collate information from sales engineers and customers to prioritise the work. I spend time planning and managing the engineers’ time with a view to successfully accommodating the sales engineers’ requests. I might be checking designs, quantities and calculations and I get involved in designing myself.

What is the best thing about working in this industry and Leada Acrow?
It’s probably seeing a structure fully completed, knowing you’ve had some small hand in making that happen. Personally, for me though, the best thing is seeing a customer realise that, even though I’m a woman, when we talk about their requirements for temporary works, I do actually know what I’m talking about.

What challenges do you think women face in the industry?
Unfortunately, it’s still generally perceived as a male dominated industry, which in itself automatically presents challenges for equal opportunities for women. But, in my experience, I have found that the support and help colleagues have given me have been positive and it’s a very rewarding career.
