Formwork for new flats
Lucas Groundworks were appointed for a major project to construct a series of new flats in Surrey. This involved the construction of a basement under seven flats, three storeys high.
One of the trickier parts of the design was the construction of an angled corner, for which we supplied our Hinged Corner, which was braced with our Slimlite Soldiers. This helped to prevent any dangers during pouring.
Our experienced Leada Acrow team supplied our new Mammut 350 System, using Slimlite Soldiers as strong backs. To prevent uplift on the panel whilst the concrete was being placed, our holding down brackets were used, as well as our Soldier Shores System for raking to stabilise and plumb the shutter. Using a 3500mm x 2500mm panel, Lucas Groundworks achieved the height of the wall in one pour, allowing them to make their pour rate and hit their programme target.
Mammut is a wall formwork system for large-size applications made of torsion-proof high strength steel profiles. It features a high load capacity combined with little deflection and the selection of panel dimensions, allowing for economical height extensions with few and continuous joints. It can be used for industrial civil engineering, administration projects, housing and infrastructure projects.
Lucas Groundworks has over 25 years’ trade experience, but this was one of the first times that they had constructed a single sided wall. Our sales and design engineering teams provided valuable technical assistance during the project.Download as PDF
