Peterborough Railway Station Upgrade
Peterborough Railway Station has undergone a major £43 million revamp which has involved a new track layout, longer platforms, the creation of a new footbridge, extensions, lifts and a new signalling system.
The work was carried out as part of ongoing improvements to the East Coast Mainline and to create a bigger, brighter, better station to cater for the growing number of people who want to travel by rail. We were contacted to produce detailed drawings so that the formwork could be used to enable the construction of new piers and soffits for a new steel footbridge.
With this being a mainline station, there were some complex logistical and technical issues to overcome, including weekend and night time work and closure of certain lines.
Our Leada Acrow Service Centre in Chesterfield supplied EcoAs Panels to construct the piers and then Soldiers and Super A-Beam for the soffit. Incorporated into this was a Co-Planar System to provide workers with full access to the site with maximum safety levels.
Feedback from the customer has been excellent and they are extremely pleased with the design, service and finished result. Throughout the process Leada Acrow complied with all Network Rail regulations.Download as PDF
